HABITAT LOSS

Habitat loss is the destruction or altering of a habitat that renders it unusable for the plant and animals originally found in the area. Habitat can also be fragmented and degraded which makes the land less preferential for many species. Changes to landscape include roadways, dredging of wetlands or rivers, and plowing of land for agriculture. These changes make it more difficult for some species to complete migration and find territory suitable for raising young.
